About Yasu Matsuoka

Hi, I'm Yasu, an artist and freelance illustrator from Japan. Thank you for visiting my website.

This artwork is inspired by my love of mermaids and mythology-based creatures. I'm creating a fantasy world that I hope to share with you one painting at a time.

I was born in Tokyo and lived in and around the city for over 30 years. In 2021 I moved to Akita, a small city in northern Japan, to live closer to nature.

When I'm not in the studio, I love going on walks, taking pictures of nature, and Plein air painting.
