December in a Nutshell

I'm always trying to find ways to improve my art skill set. One of the ways I do this is through 3D modeling. A little-known part of my behind the scenes process is that I often build 3D sets to get accurate lighting reference before painting.

In December, I took the time to brush up on my 3D modeling skills in Blender (software). I'm very excited to be adding another program, Zbrush, to my artist toolbox!

This month I also started working on a new winter centaur series. The inspiration for this project came from Saggitarius and from thinking about winters with snow. I usually spend the end of the year up north visiting family, shoveling snow, and having snowball fights with my nephews. This year I'm painting snow in my office.

As we all know, this holiday season and year has been unlike any other. But looking back, I'm filled with gratitude for everything I've learned along the way, and I hope to continue to share with you beauty and magic through art.

Next year you can expect to see more fantasy and mythological creatures, along with mermaids! If there's a specific creature you'd like to see, let me know. I love to hear from you.

Cheers to the new year!
